My painting practice celebrates queer narratives within South Asian communities. It is disruptive by nature, engaging regionally sensitive themes of gender identity and sexuality. Through text-based imagery, I create visual voices that speak to the public about the struggles of minorities and the queer experience in Pakistan, approached through an optimistic lens.

Urdu and English are my primary tools. Words become recurring marks that build patterns and textures inspired by Pakistani textiles. I pair vibrant colour with language that carries the joy of queer pride: “pride,” “respect,” and “freak,” reclaimed.

By merging colour, paint, and text, I create illusive imagery that takes the form of sound. Two-dimensional surfaces begin to vibrate with perceived movement. Through repetition, the rhythm of music, the loudness of words, and the physicality of performance become one.
